Charles Tewell and William Tewell?

Patrick Tewell writes:

I found your website earlier today when I was trying to fill in some of my father’s extensive research on our family.  Records go back to MD, then things get less certain.  What is certain is that our family were some of the first settlers to KY (VA at the time) in the late 1700′s.  Later my gggg grandfather Charles Tewell went on to settle in southern IN with his brother where new Catholic churches were established on what was the frontier.

I have two binders of family information that my father spend a lifetime researching.  Upon his death in 2004, all his other research and documentation was forwarded to a genealogical society in Washington, Indiana.  Feel free to contact me for any infomation you need, and please respond in kind.  Of importance, I’m looking for information on my ggggg grandfather, William Tewell (Tuel, Tuell), who was born in either St. Mary’s County MD or Prince George’s County, MD approximately in 1760.  He was married to Elizabeth Riney and they had at least four children.

If you can help Patrick, please leave a comment.

I have an Elizabeth and Eleanor Tuel in my family history. They both married in what would now be Washington D.C. I descend from Elizabeth, who married Andrew Thompson in 1798. After Andrew’s death she remarried twice and died in 1850 I believe in D.C.
I’d love to compare notes. My family has a myfamily.com site just for our Thompson and collateral lines.

I believe John, William and Charles Tuell were brothers, and were perhaps the sons of another Willliam. William and Charles were at Ft Pitt and John at Redstone prior to the Revolution. John and his wife, Mary Ann Mason came to Louisiville with Clark in 1778 and Charles and his wife, Nancy Fitzgerald, were in Ky after 1780. Another brother went to the Maysville, KY area. Charles’ and John’s families settled primarily in Indiana, but can be found throughout the country. The sons and grandsons of these men carry the same names, and in my family’s case, through seven generations. Would love to know if anyone has research along these lines.
